The Learning
Community.
A place where children are known.
The Learning Community is our year-long mixed-age learning community for children ages 4 - 12.
Families choose one, two, or three days each week from September through June. Over time, children build lasting friendships, grow in confidence, and become an important part of the community.
Most of our day is spent outdoors. Children climb, build, create, explore, play, and learn in every season. When it's time to gather, read together, work on projects, share a meal, or warm up, we head back to our 1850 schoolhouse, heated yurt, or covered gathering space before returning outside.
The day has a rhythm. There are moments of exploration, moments of focused work, moments of responsibility, and plenty of time to simply be a child.
We don't separate learning from living. Children learn by participating in a real community, caring for one another, and engaging with the world around them.

Is this the
right fit?
The Learning Community may be a good fit if you're looking for...
Smaller group sizes where your child is truly known.
A consistent community your child can grow with throughout the year.
Most of the day spent outdoors in every season, with inviting indoor spaces to gather and learn together.
Plenty of time for play, creativity, and meaningful work.
A place where independence, responsibility, and kindness are just as important as learning new skills.
Families join us for many different reasons. Some are homeschooling. Some are looking for a different learning environment. Others simply want their child to spend more time outdoors in a small, caring community.

How does
it work?
Children attend the same one, two, or three days each week from September through June.
Following a consistent rhythm gives children the opportunity to build friendships, feel comfortable in the environment, and become confident members of the community.
Our days include a balance of guided experiences, child-led exploration, practical life, creative projects, reading, outdoor play, and plenty of time to simply be children.
Because the group stays together throughout the year, children develop a strong sense of belonging and responsibility for one another.
